Meeting place for young people to have their say

aha – The jubel workshop, organised by Jugendbeteiligung Liechtenstein (jubel), took place in mid-November at the Kreativ Akademie in Vaduz. Around 55 class representatives from all secondary schools met there to network, gain new perspectives and learn more about their opportunities to have their say in Liechtenstein.

For many newly elected class representatives, vice-representatives and other class representatives, the jubel workshop was a helpful introduction to their new role. They gained insights into the jubel programme, exchanged experiences and clarified questions about how they can best represent their classes. One participant said: ‘I now know what my responsibilities as class representative are, and I am very motivated to put my ideas into practice.’

A place for encounters and creative collaboration

In addition to technical input, the focus was very much on shared experiences. Short creative impulses, practical group tasks and informal discussions created an open atmosphere. The young people were able to engage in conversation easily, support each other and make new contacts – even beyond their own schools.

What moves young people

During the workshop, it became clear which topics are particularly important to young people at the moment. Among the topics mentioned repeatedly were:

  • Green schoolyards

  • Good bus connections and mobility

  • Pressure and stress from social media

  • Stress and high pressure to perform at school

  • Environmental protection

  • Wars and global political developments

  • Treating each other with respect

This collection will be incorporated into jubel's work in the coming months and will serve as the basis for the jubel forum in the spring.
